Position Overview:
Benthic Solutions Limited is a marine environmental survey and consulting company delivering a broad range of services to the offshore renewable, utility, oil and gas, and aquaculture industries worldwide from the shoreline to full ocean depth.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Project Report Writer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal to producing high-quality environmental reports for various marine and coastal projects.
The position is full time but part time (minimum 22.5 hours) will be considered, with a competitive salary (commensurate with experience/qualifications) and benefits, including profit sharing and health insurance. The position is office-based or with the option to include an element of offshore time (up to 60 days with rotations up to 2 weeks), at the applicant's discretion.

Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee project deliverables and resource planning, adhering to deadlines set by the Reporting Manager. Key activities include:
- Leading environmental data interpretation sessions.
- Developing and monitoring project-specific Gantt charts.
- Liaising with Marine Scientists, Project Managers, Clients, Subcontractors, the Analytical Manager, and the Reporting Manager.
- Providing constructive written feedback to report writers.
- Conducting QA/QC, and issuing deliverables to clients.
- Supporting the preparation of GIS deliverables using ArcGIS/QGIS.
- Leadership: Lead development tasks as assigned by the Reporting Manager, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor assistant report writers to enhance the quality and accuracy of project deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an environmental report writer in the survey industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in key reporting areas, including:
- Intertidal surveys.
- Coastal and deep-sea marine surveys, encompassing:
- Desktop Reviews.
- Habitat Assessments, including biotope mapping and assessments of common potentially sensitive habitats (e.g., geogenic reefs, biogenic reefs, seapen & burrowing megafauna communities, cold water coral gardens, deep sea sponge aggregations).
- Environmental Baseline Surveys.
- Environmental monitoring reports (North Sea and internationally) for various stages such as pre- and post-construction, drilling, and decommissioning.
Skills & Competencies:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in MS Office and GIS software, including Global Mapper, Surfer, ArcGIS, and QGIS.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Time Management: Exceptional timekeeping and task management abilities, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects effectively.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and quality.
